Building a personal website

Creating a place to publish my projects and ramblings

Must haves and should haves

I've been busy settling in to a new job this month, but today I had a decent chunk of time to work through the remaining must have and should have features.

Completed work

  • Media is now delivered from Azure blob storage. We have images! I experimented with using Azure front door to serve media from "media.alfiewoodland.com" but this proved to be prohibitively expensive, so I'm sticking with the less elegant "alfiewoodlandmedia.blob.core.windows.net" URLs.
  • There are now three projects up on the site, all with an initial post - this is far from everything I'd like to share, but it's enough to call this site a showcase of my projects.
  • There's now a home button to return from a project page, and the list view works. I also disabled the physics toggle for now, but stay tuned for more on that....

Here's a picture of a fox I took in Oslo, just because I can.

So I'm now on to the could haves, which is a great place to be. The next steps will get me to a point where I can focus more on creating content.

Next features

  • A simple CMS for creating new projects and updates.
  • A print stylesheet for the CV page.

Planned features

  • A physics toggle inspired by Google Gravity. Even though this is totally silly and unnecessary, I'm determined that I will get around to this eventually.
  • Sort, filter and search functionality.

All going well, the next update will be posted from my very own CMS.
